Connecting to the server over SFTP
SFTP gives you access to the game server's files: configs, maps, plugins, logs.
Where to get the credentials
Server control panel → the Files tab. It lists:
- Host — the address to connect to;
- Port;
- Login.
The password is your sourhost.net account password. There is no separate SFTP password. If the account is an old one and the password isn't accepted, sign out and back in on the site — it syncs on sign-in.
Connecting with FileZilla
- Open FileZilla → File → Site Manager → New site.
- Fill in:
- Protocol:
SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol - Host and Port: as shown on the "Files" tab
- Logon type:
Normal - User: the login from the panel
- Password: your sourhost.net account password
- Protocol:
- Click Connect.
On the first connection FileZilla shows the server's key — confirm you trust it.
Connecting with WinSCP
- File protocol:
SFTP. - Host name and Port — from the panel.
- User name and Password — as above.
- Login.
What's where
After connecting you land in the server's root. The game files are inside the game folder (e.g. cstrike for Counter-Strike: Source, csgo for CS:GO).
Typical tasks:
| Task | Where to put it |
|---|---|
| Maps | maps/ inside the game folder |
| SourceMod plugins | addons/sourcemod/plugins/ |
| Server config | cfg/server.cfg |
After uploading
Changed configs and new plugins apply after a restart — click Restart in the panel.
If players take a long time downloading maps when joining, add FastDL — file delivery over HTTP. It's a separate service, see the corresponding section of the knowledge base.
